Hi! Welcome to the Kolor Me Kid art blog. Along with some wonderful instructors, I have been teaching art in afterschool programs, Montessori Schools, and private schools in the Chicagoland area for the last ten years. I’d love to share some of the lessons and students work we have done over those years.

FALL IS PROBABLY MY FAVORITE TIME OF THE YEAR.
WITH THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR STARTING AND AUTUMN JUST AROUND THE CORNER I THOUGHT I'D POST SOME OF THE PAST FALL LESSONS I'VE DONE WITH MY STUDENTS.

FALL WATERCOLOR PENCIL LEAF LESSON

In our watercolor pencil fall leaf lesson, students are shown examples of leaf studies created by various artists and become aware of how to recognize the different drawing styles and media used by different artists. We talk about how artists often will do a series of drawings or a study of a subject, using the same media and style for each painting or drawing. The students then create two examples of a fall leaf using watercolor pencil and incorporating the same style in both.
